The Best Baby Food Brands

The Best Baby Food Brands

Hello lovelies, here's a list of my top 4 best baby food brands that I would recommend to other mums. I started weaning my daughter Isabelle when she was 6 months old, she is currently 16 months old so I have been using these brands for coming up a year and can honestly say after using them for so long that they are the best quality baby food brands you can buy from most supermarkets in the UK. You don't need to go into a health food/speciality shop or buy online to get these, you can just buy them from your local supermarket knowing these are the most nutritious baby food brands you can give to your baby. Making your own baby food is of course the best and cheapest option but not everyone always has the time so these are a great alternative.

My favourite brands of baby food that I love and use are:
  • Ella's Kitchen
  • Cow & Gate
  • Babease
  • Kiddylicious

Ella's Kitchen is my number one top pick because they're organic and you can literally see what's in them. Only organic whole foods are used in the ingredients and no nasties. My baby girl loves them! I also like them best because they have the biggest vegan/vegetarian range I've seen and I've looked in many shops. They have a wide range from the exotic with their Thai veggie curry to single fruit or vegetables and much more. They also do smoothies and porridge with crispy bits in which my child loves for breakfast. Their baby biscuits are brilliant because they come individually wrapped in single packets so you don't have to open a whole packet that will go stale and fall out in your bag for your child to only eat one of! I feel good giving this brand of baby food to my daughter knowing it's of the best quality with no added chemicals, colouring or preservatives. Ella's Kitchen is in my opinion the best baby food in the UK nutrition wise that you can buy from any local supermarket without being too expensive. They are in my opinion the creme de la creme of baby food I've tried so far :)

Cow & Gate are my second favourite because they're the best price. They have excellent first baby foods like their baby rice and porridge because they're completely smooth and very easy for babies to eat. They are also very affordable with deals such as 10 jars for £5 on regularly which works out at only 50p a jar! They have a hand full of vegetarian meals that my daughter likes such as their fruit crumbles. As I mentioned in my How To Start Weaning A baby post, this was the brand Isabelle had her first bite of food with. I managed to pick up a box of their baby porridge reduced to only 20p! Such a bargain and was a huge success with Izzy.

Babease are a great organic brand and have a nice selection of vegan/vegetarian meals. They can be more expensive however than the others so we only get them if they're on offer etc. My girl likes them a lot and I know shes only eating the best healthy ingredients possible. They include things like quinoa, coconut water and brown rice etc which I haven't seen used in other brands before which makes them stand out and I was very happy with that.

Kiddylicious is one of my absolute favourite brands for snacks! Me and my daughter love their veggie straws. I can't help but eat them myself too because they are that yummy their addictive! We are literally obsessed with them. They are are also such a great brand because most of their stuff is gluten free, vegan (great for those that are dairy intolerant), no artificial colours/preservatives/flavourings and make ideal finger foods that improve hand to mouth coordination. They are really fun for kids to eat and I can't recommend them enough.

Also a quick one worth mentioning is Asda's own little angels organic pouches. They are a good price usually cheaper than other brands. The fruit ones are great and they do a lentil veggie bake that was a big hit with Isabelle.

We do make our own baby and toddler food for Isabelle especially since my husband Luke's a chef, he cooks for our family a lot. I also like to make up a couple batches of meals to store in the fridge and freezer throughout the week for everyone but its always good to stock up for those days your really busy or out and need something quick to give them.

All of the baby food I have talked about have meals based on how old your baby is which is very helpful so at a glance you know what food is suitable for your babies age. For instance you can start from 4 months old and work your way up into the toddler aged meals. I have tried many other brands but these are my favourite so far. I am always on the lookout though for good quality baby food so if you know of a brand I haven't mentioned that you love and think I should try please let me know in the comments!

Disclaimer - I want you to know that even though I have mentioned quite a few brands, this is not a sponsored post and I haven't been asked or paid to mention these brands. I am just genuinely sharing what I personally like and have used for many months. I would never share anything that I didn't love and use myself. This is my own opinion, thoughts and feelings on what the best baby food brands available is in the UK. I am not receiving any money for this post.

Baby 11 Months Old Update: Isabelle Lilly

Isabelle Lilly  11 Months Old Update    Wow another month has flown by in a blink of an eye. It is officially the beginning of autumn which not only means the beautiful colour of leaves changing but her 1st birthday is right round the corner. Cant believe in just a few short weeks shes going to be one!!! I could cry at the thought :') Milestones She gained 2 extra teeth this month! It's horrible for them when their teeth are cutting through but I'm pleased that she can have more solid food now than mostly purees. She's using her teeth to cut through pieces of food and tear chunks off. When I give her snack and finger food like the Kiddylicious veggie straws (vegetable crisps) she'll press them down on her 2 bottom teeth to cut bits off so eating is more fun for her.  One of the thing's she's learnt that I'm most proud of is laughing, smiling and clapping to get our attention over crying. I'm thrilled by this because I

How To Start Weaning A Baby

How To Start Weaning A Baby As a first time mum I didn't know where to start when it came to weaning a baby. I think for most people we don't even think about it until well after pregnancy and when we've actually had the baby. Even then I think for the first few months your trying to get the hang of breastfeeding or bottle feeds that nursing, taking care of your new baby and praying for sleep is what were focused on. Once the initial newborn bubble is over that's when I thought about weaning. I want to share the knowledge I gained while researching and experimenting with weaning my own baby onto solid food. I definitely know a thing or two about it now, in fact I feel like a weaning pro and I hope this helps alot of mums. To have all the information you need condensed into one space from a real mother that's been there and done it. I answer the most common questions mums ask about weaning and share my own weaning journey with my daughter Isabelle. Signs your
